trying to deal with unpoliticized people or having conversations with people who resist any attempts at politicization is so effing draining. remember that the only reason you are able to be who you are today is because of people who took the leap and saw the political in the personal and called that shit out. and challenged it.
We are women. Who happen to be Asian. Not for sweet and sour sauce. And your fetishistic behaviour. Get out of here.
moving line by line
with her black
all that you’ve been
in your mouth of
that blocked up shit you
hold in your chakras
by a being
who’s been there
how is it
she can reach you
no matter how far
or far from home
you end up
be a poet
of every new leaf
and kissing it
how hard it is
but how easy
and how naturally
lies beyond this
in the whole
and when the sun
is an extinguished flame
of the spheres
will be audible
But feminism is not, in fact, all about choosing your choice. It is mostly about recognizing when things are fucked up for women at the societal level, and talking about that, and trying to change it. So sometimes, even when a decision is right for you, you still need to recognize that you made that decision within a social context that overwhelmingly supports your choice, and punishes women who make a different one.
Well Amen to that, Kate.

Like their white counterparts, men and women of color in the pre-retirement years of ages 50 through 65 have a median wealth between $50,000 and $70,000 more than their younger counterparts ages 36 to 49.
According to federal poverty standards, poverty rates for people age 65 and over are highest for women of color. In 2007 16.7% of white women living alone were poor, but 26% of Asian women living alone, 38.5% of black women living alone, and 41.1% of Hispanic women living alone were poor.

Self-care includes holding each other accountable because we are interconnected. Loving ourselves includes learning how not to harm each other. Loving ourselves includes disrupting violent patterns in our homes and community-building spaces.
